TaylorMade Stealth Golf Driver
The release of a new range of TaylorMade metal woods is always something that creates a lot of excitement throughout the golfing world, and with good reason. They have consistently pushed technology forwards, squeezing every possible available yard out of their drivers within the boundaries of the rules. The industry leading performance of the Sim & Sim 2 range made them an incredibly popular choice – not only in the golf bags of amateurs of every skill level but also in the bags of the best players in the world. They were so good that many within the golf industry questioned how TaylorMade could produce a new model that offered any further performance benefits.
In true TaylorMade style they have delivered a revolutionary new range of woods that emphatically silences any naysayers with technology that will once again transform the driver market. The TaylorMade Stealth range of drivers has been released following twenty years of development and could well mark the end of the titanium era of metal woods. The use of carbon fibre in the construction of golf drivers has become increasingly prevalent over past few seasons but its use has been thus far restricted to the main body of the club to allow for strategic weight distribution.
The TaylorMade Stealth Driver range employs a 60x Carbon Twist Face which is 44% lighter than an equivalent titanium face. It is also 11% larger than the face of the Sim 2 driver and an astonishing 20% larger than the clubface found on the original Sim driver. The clubface of the Stealth driver has been constructed with sixty layers of carbon fibre – all strategically designed to optimise energy transfer and increase ball speeds over the largest possible area. This has resulted in a range of drivers that produce incredible distance combined with a level of forgiveness that blows everything else out of the water. The carbon face is encased by a polyurethane cover which features an innovative nanotexture technology which serves to fine tune launch and spin and optimises total distance regardless of the conditions you are playing in.
The Stealth range of drivers consists of three different models with each one offering distinctive characteristics, allowing golfers to choose the model best suited for their game. The TaylorMade Stealth driver is the model with the highest M.O.I out of the three and lends itself to use by the largest cross section of handicaps. The weight saving that has been created using carbon on the face, has allowed TaylorMade to add more weight to be positioned low and deep in the head producing 15% more M.O.I than the Stealth Plus model. The Stealth driver offers a mid-high launch with mid-low spin in a clubhead that is unbelievably forgiving.
The Asymmetric Inertia Generator that was first seen on the Sim driver has been refined and improved for the ultimate in aerodynamics and allows the clubhead to travel through air more quickly due to less overall drag. The result is faster clubhead speeds and longer drives. The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket has been made more flexible than ever before and has been designed specifically to maximise ball-speeds and increased forgiveness on low face strikes.
Aesthetically the TaylorMade Stealth driver is a club of really beauty, with the understated black of the crown and the sole wonderfully offset by the striking red of the carbon face. Whilst the red face is extremely noticeable to those watching, it only really appears as a red line when placed behind the ball and actually helps with aligning the face correctly. As with previous TaylorMade drivers, the loft sleeve on the Stealth Driver allows the loft to be altered up or down by 2°, giving golfers the chance to further fine tune their ball flight.
Whether you are a golfer that always buys the latest release, or you are someone that has kept hold of a much older model in the thought that nothing could really improve on it, the TaylorMade Stealth is the driver that could revolutionise your driving. If you are looking for the fastest ball speed combined with the ultimate in forgiveness, then there really is only one choice to make. The TaylorMade Stealth Driver is undoubtedly going to be the must have golf driver in 2022.

Cobra LTDx Max Golf Driver
Cobra Golf have muscled their way onto the top table of golf equipment manufacturers over the past few seasons, with a string of excellent product lines that have performed superbly in all independent testing. Cobra have always been at the forefront of innovation in golf club manufacture, and they have never been afraid to experiment with new technologies that would lead to improved ball speeds, forgiveness looks and sound. Cobra have now released the LTDx range of metal woods to an expectant golfing public and without any question it is the finest collection of woods and hybrids that they have ever produced.
Cobra’s design team have employed machine learning and CNC machining to shape their innovative technology, and this has led to the E9 face being replaced by a new variable thickness design named H.O.T face (Highly Optimised Technology). This explosive new face has been precision tuned to provide the ultimate in ball-speed, leading to significant improvement in the distance your drives travel. The clubface thickness has been optimised in fifteen different zones to help maximise the ball-speed regardless of where on the face the shot is struck.
As with the outgoing RadSpeed range there are three different head choices, with each model providing different qualities and allows you to choose the ideal model for your launch characteristics. The LTDx LS driver is for the higher speed and more advanced golfer that likes to hit high launching, low spinning bombs, whilst the LTDx MAX is a maximum draw biased head that offers exceptional levels of stability. The LTDx driver is their ‘standard’ head that will be suitable for the greatest cross section of golfers and is an excellent blend of the other two drivers in the range.
For many golfers, each round brings with it a constant battle against the dreaded slice, with tee shots often veering off with alarming severity into the rough or bushes. Thankfully for golfers that have been cursed with this most unwelcome shot shape, the new Cobra LTDx Max driver has arrived on the scene to help cure it. Featuring both MAX stability and MAX draw bias, the Cobra LTDx Max driver allows the golfer to adjust it’s set up using moveable weight technology to achieve optimal results. When the 10g heavy weight is positioned in the back of the head the Ltdx Max driver plays at its most stable whilst still retaining some draw bias through an added weight positioned in the heel. When the heavy weight is placed in the heel of the driver it plays at its most draw biased setting, providing 11yards of slice correction.
As with all the drivers in the new range, the LTDx driver features their new H.O.T. Face technology and replaces the E9 face from previous generations. The ‘Highly Optimised Topology’ face has been precision tuned for speed using data gathered from thousands of impact simulations. There are fifteen different zones across the club face with differing thicknesses which helps to maximise ball-speeds regardless of where the ball has been struck on the face. Cobra’s CNC machining has combined with machine learning to produce this completely new face which will provide a welcome boost to the power of your tee shots.
Previous versions of heavily draw biased drivers have always struggled to match the overall performance of other drivers in the range and so choosing an anti-slice club would mean a trade-off that would result in less distance and higher spin rates. The multi material construction of the Cobra LTDx Max driver does not suffer from the same problems and provides top level ball-speeds and forgiveness that will power the slicer further and straighter than ever before. If you are a golfer that has always feared a slice, then fear no more. The Cobra LTDx Max is here to save the day.

Callaway Rogue ST Max Golf Driver
Callaway Golf have a rich history of producing amazing golf drivers that perform at the very pinnacle of what is achievable within the rules of golf and the release of the new Rogue ST family of drivers look set to continue that theme. Callaway have continued to push the boundaries of innovation, improving every element in the design to bring drivers to market that have the potential to take your driver game to the next level. The Rogue ST line up has four different models to choose from, each one offering something quite different in terms of performance and the type of player they are aimed at. The Rogue ST Max is their ‘standard‘ head and will suit the broadest range of handicaps. The Rogue ST Max D is their max draw bias driver that will help the slicers straighten out their ball flight whilst the Rogue ST Max LS is the lowest spin offering that will be ideally suited for the low to mid handicap players. For the first time ever Callaway’s fourth offering is the triple diamond version which has previously only been available to PGA and European Tour players.
As mentioned earlier, the Callaway Rogue ST Max will be the mainstay of the Rogue ST range and is not only the most forgiving head out of the four driver models, but it also produces the fastest ball speeds. Callaway have produced a tungsten speed cartridge that has an anodized back cap that serves to increase speed on off-centre hits whilst also increasing M.O.I and adding stability through the impact zone. The Jailbreak Speed Frame that has been employed so successfully in the last few Callaway releases has been further enhanced through the use of artificial intelligence. By strengthening the main body of the head, Callaway are able to optimise the face thickness to provide the ultimate in ball speeds. The Flash Face has also received further upgrades and this most innovative feature ensures the maximum energy transfer to ball, regardless of where the ball has been struck on the face. The formula for the design of the A.I. design face now takes all of speed, launch and spin into consideration and this has produced their fastest and most consistent face yet.
Much of golf club design now centres on new ways of saving weight from some areas in order for it to be redistributed more effectively in other areas of the head. Callaway have done this in the Rogue ST Max driver through unibody construction and a triaxial carbon crown and sole. The saved weight through this construction method helps to promote increased stability and massively improves forgiveness. The Callaway Rogue ST driver has a slight draw bias and promotes a high launch with mid-levels of spin. If you are looking for a fantastic all-round performer that can help make this season the best of your golfing life, then the Callaway ST Max driver would be the ideal choice. It is the perfect blend of speed and forgiveness, all wrapped up in highly attractive package.
