Winner’s choice of the TaylorMade Stealth or Ping G430 2023 Driver
TaylorMade Stealth 2 Golf Driver
TaylorMade Golf shook the golf industry up once again last Spring with the release of the Stealth Driver – the world’s first fully Carbon Faced driver. It was a huge success and its distinctive red face was regularly seen on TV, used by some of the very best players in the world such as Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson & Scottie Scheffler. The new TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver further improves on the original’s revolutionary features and promises to be possibly the easiest driver to use of all time. The Stealth 2 Golf Driver is one of three driver models in the men’s line up and sits in the middle of the Stealth 2 Plus Driver (lowest launch & spin) and the Stealth 2 HD Driver (draw bias)
Chasing distance has long been the main aim of all golf manufacturers when developing new drivers, and whilst that has been a consideration in the design of the Stealth 2, the focus has shifted considerably towards forgiveness. The 60x Carbon Twist Face has been refined to deliver optimised energy transfer for lightning fast ball speeds and this has now been paired with an advanced version of Inverted Cone technology (ICT) which massively improves ball speeds on off-centre hits. The face itself is 2g lighter than on the original Stealth and it has been constructed to have an expanded COR area for a larger sweet spot and boosted performance across the entire face. Even the best players in the world miss the occasionally miss the middle of the club, so for the casual golfer who misses the centre with far more regularity, this technology has the potential to change their golfing life.
FEATURES AT A GLANCE
CARBON REINFORCED COMPOSITE RING – The Carbon Reinforced Composite Ring unites the driver head into a singular force and frees up additional mass that has been strategically placed to deliver more forgiveness.
DESIGNEDFOR SPEEDAND FORGIVENESS – The corrective tendencies of Twist Face™ combined with advanced ICT help maintain ball speed and accuracy on off-centre strikes. A lightweight full-carbon body allows engineers to harvest mass and strategically place weight for optimal launch and forgiveness.
NANOTEXTURE COVER – The 60X Carbon Twist Face is encased by a polyurethane cover, featuring a revolutionary nanotexture technology. The nanotexture cover is used to fine tune launch and spin to optimise total distance regardless of playing conditions.
ASYMMETRIC INERTIA GENERATOR – The Inertia Generator remains the foundational source of refined aerodynamic properties. The result is a slippery-fast head shape that aids in swing speed generation on the downswing for golfers at every level. It is outfitted with a 25g rear weight for incredible MOI and forgiveness.
THRU-SLOTSPEED POCKET – TaylorMade’s flexible Speed Pocket™ design is engineered to maximise ball speeds and produce additional forgiveness on low-face strikes.
OR
PING G430 Max Driver
PING are once again displaying their commitment to unlocking more speed and distance with the highly anticipated release of the G430 family of drivers. The new family consists of three driver models which are by now, well known to PING aficionados. The MAX, LST & SFT models have hugely differing playing characteristics allowing the discerning golfer to select the best model for their game.
PING’s engineering team developed several new technologies common to all three models whilst applying specific advancements to each individual head. The end result is that each new model produces measurable ball-speed gains and a much improved sound throughout the series. The added ball speed is attributed to a shallower and thinner VFT forged face design engineered with Spinsistency, a variable roll radius technology proven on the G425 fairway woods and hybrids. The improved and pleasing sound is the result of fine-tuning the frequencies of the head through a new internal rib structure, providing the golfer with superior feel and feedback through impact.
The PING G430 MAX is once again the most forgiving model out of the three and fits the widest range of golfers. A 25-gram, high-density tungsten moveable backweight influences shot shape by ±10 yards between the Draw, Neutral and Fade settings. The Clubhead loft is adjustable by ±1.5°and the club lie up is adjustable to 3° flat from standard using the 8-setting Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel all of which allows the golfer to achieve mastery of the driver.
FEATURES AT A GLANCE
- Optimised T9S+ Forged Face Creates Explosive Ball Speeds
- New Internal Rib Structure Improves Sound
- 3-Position CG Shifter (Draw, Neutral, Fade) Allows Fine Tuning Of Ball-Flight
- Shallower & Thinner Variable Thickness Face Increases Ball Speeds
- Largest Distance Gains Of Any PING Driver
